WHAT IS TOASTMASTERS?
Toastmasters International is a worldwide network of clubs that has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience. Students in the LMU MBA program founded this chapter in Fall 2009. Toastmasters' learn-by-doing style empowers you to become a better speaker and leader quickly and effectively.
WHY JOIN?
Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. Whether you are in the classroom, the boardroom, giving an interview, or simply telling a joke at a party, Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills. You'll quickly learn techniques to effectively organize and express your ideas. Be more confident, persuasive, and comfortable presenting, and improve your one-on-one dealings with others in a fun, friendly, supportive environment.

WHAT IF I'M NOT A GREAT SPEAKER?
Dont worry! We welcome everyone. And guests have the option whether to participate or simply observe. Everyone in the group has areas of strength and weakness. Most of us had never been to a Toastmasters meeting before the Fall of 2009. The tone is friendly and supportive. While evaluation and feedback are key components of the Toastmasters learning model, the goal of our evaluators is to support strengths and help improve areas of less comfort. At first youll be applauded for your effort; later youll be applauded for your skill.
You'll get experience that's immediately applicable to real-world situations such as leading a meeting, listening critically, and responding off the cuff to questions in real time. Plus you'll grow your vocabulary, hone your grammar, and a whole lot more. But no amount of description can take the place of the LMU MBA Toastmasters meeting experience, so we wholeheartedly encourage you to join us as a guest.
